Paraprofessional

Certificate Program

The purpose of this 290 hour program is to certify participants with a Paraprofessional credential and to prepare them for long-term employment in the field.  The program assists participants in developing appropriate work related and life skills and to learn effective coping skills in response to daily employment. Upon completion of this program, successful participants will successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment exam as well as obtain Safety Techniques Certification, and CPR certification coupled with employability and soft skills.

In this program, you will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare you for positions such as:

  • Be CPR certified
  • Have Safety Techniques Skills
  • Earn computer skills
  • Earn 29 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s)
  • Earn the ParaPro Credential, a nationally recognized credential which aides in obtaining full time employment in the Education field as a Paraprofessional

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to monitor instructional effectiveness.
  2. Use observation to identify student learner characteristics.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to handle student behavior and classroom management. 
  4. Demonstrate the ability to coordinate clerical tasks.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to plan and prepare classroom instruction.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of the legal and ethical requirements of the education industry.
  7. Use observation to assess children’s progress towards goals.
