Automotive Technology Level I

Certificate Program

This hands-on training class aligns with the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards. This course provides an overview of automotive repair. Students will be introduced to key areas including automotive electrical systems, brake systems, steering and suspension systems, along with their components and service procedures.

What You Can Do

In this program, you will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare you for positions such as:

  • Automotive Service Advisor
  • Automotive Parts Advisor

What You Will Learn

Measurable Performance Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  • Identify and explain the functions of the major systems of motor vehicles.
  • Demonstrate basic automotive service procedures.
  • Assess and repair basic automotive electrical circuits and various types of body electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and service automotive batteries
  • Assess and repair the various instrumentation and warning device systems.
  • Assess and service automotive starting and charging system components. 
  • Assess and service various brake systems.
  • Assess and service various steering and suspension systems.
  • Assess and service automotive wheels and tires.
  • Diagnose and repair automotive HVAC concerns and service HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrate safe and professional practices within the automotive shop environment.
