Certificate Program
Delaware Tech’s new Carpentry program is designed to prepare you for entry-level jobs in the high-demand building and construction trades. Participants will gain the essential carpentry skills needed to begin their career through the use of extensive hands-on training and activities.

What You Can Do
In this program, you will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare you for positions such as:
- Entry-level carpenter
- Carpenter’s apprentice
- Roofer
- Siding installer
- Drywall installer
What You Will Learn
Measurable Performance Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Demonstrate the proper way to use various types of hand and power tools.
- Interpret residential and commercial architectural and construction documents.
- Perform framing basics and the procedures for laying out and constructing a wood floor using common lumber.
- Lay out and frame walls, including roughing-in door and window openings, constructing corners, partition, and bracing walls.
- Measure, cut, install, finish and repair drywall.
- Lay out rafters for gable roofs, hip roofs, and valley intersections as well as implement the basics of roof sheathing and shingle installation.
- Perform various types of exterior finishing and installation procedures, including wood, metal, vinyl, and fiber-cement siding.
