Q: Why was it important for you to work at Delaware Tech?
“It was important for me to work at Delaware Tech because I wanted to expand my horizons and learn other things besides what I did as a video production major. The thing I like most is working with the faculty and helping students and instructors whenever they need me to. There is something I find rewarding about that.”
Q: What did you do before working at Delaware Tech?
"I was between jobs at the time. I'm from Connecticut originally, and my family came to Delaware after my sister first moved to the state. So, we all came here together, and I needed to look for a job in my field. I saw the classroom technology technician listing from Delaware Tech online, and I figured that was something I wanted to try and see where it led. Over the years, I’ve found that by working at a school and getting a chance to interact with a whole bunch of different people, especially students, I play a role in helping advance their careers. That’s really exciting to me, and I’ve stuck with it.”
Q: Describe your first day at Delaware Tech?
“There was definitely a lot going on that I needed to learn, but when you work with so many kind and wonderful people, you pick things up very quickly. Everybody here, we all work together, and we help each other out to be successful.”
Q: What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
“I'm much more active when I'm with everybody here. I’ve found that I’ve learned to be more communicative, too. I've always been a hard worker, but here I've grown to find my own rhythm, and I push myself forward to make sure that everything gets done on time.”
Q: What's your favorite thing about working at Delaware Tech?
“My favorite thing about working at Delaware Tech is solving problems for instructors and students. Knowing that I'm able to contribute to the educational process and make sure everything goes right is the best feeling in the world.”
Q: How would you describe your philosophy when working with students?
“I always make sure that students get what they need when they come to Delaware Tech, and I reinforce the idea that this is the right place for them. I want them to know that they are going to be successful by going here.”
Q: How would you define student success?
“There are many ways to go about that, but I think it is important that we give them all the tools possible for success and make sure they are functioning properly. We're making sure the technology is working perfectly for them so that they don't have any issues when using it in the classroom.”
Q: What is a significant achievement, milestone, or memory that you've had in either your professional or personal journey while at the college?
“A major achievement for me was assisting at an event featuring First Lady Jill Biden, who visited our campus for the dedication of the B-wing in her honor. I am proud to have played a role in making that event a success.”
Q: What is your favorite memory from your time working at Delaware Tech?
“I like getting to learning new things, and I really enjoy assisting the video production crew on film and video projects. It allows me to go beyond my typical role and assist another department at the same time.”
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of Delaware Tech?
“I enjoy spending time with my family, playing video games, playing with my niece, and just hanging out with people.”
Q: What's something people may not know about you?
“One thing people may not know is that my major was video production, and I’m very passionate about filmmaking. I've had the opportunity to work with Kevin and Mike in the video production facility and work on all sorts of fun projects with them. So that's something I love to do.”
Q: What are your future goals?
“I love where I am now and enjoy helping people. Down the road, I’d love to learn more about video production and help out with more projects related to that.”
