Landon Hudson
Lacrosse Student-Athlete
With 58 points in his career as a Delaware Tech lacrosse player and a growing impact on and off the field, Landon Hudson is making his mark this season.
Lacrosse has been a part of Hudson's life for the last 12 years.
"It's just something that I've always done," he said. "I just enjoy … the ability to help teach these guys and help them."
In his second season, Hudson, who made the Region 19 All-Region team last year, was voted as one of the captains by his own teammates. He takes his new role seriously.
"I make sure I tell them, ‘If there's any questions, ask me or ask any of us, we are always here'," he said. "It's not just playing. It's more like being friends and teammates."
Hudson is currently ranked first in goals and points in Region 19 with 14 goals and one assist, totaling 15 points so far this season, and he is ranked fifth nationally in goals scored this season. He is on his way to achieving one of his goals for this season — scoring 100 points in his lacrosse career, with 58 points scored so far.
One of Hudson's favorite moments this season came during a recent team trip to New York, where the team spent time bonding off the field and secured their first win of the season.
Like many student-athletes, Hudson has had to adjust to balancing academics and athletics at the collegiate level. He said managing the workload was one of the biggest challenges.
"It's a little different," he said. "You kind of have to be on it. So that took me a minute to adjust to."
A marketing major at the Owens Campus in Georgetown, Hudson chose to come to Delaware Tech to stay close to home. It also helped that one of his first lacrosse coaches was the lacrosse head coach, Dan Yearick. Seeing a familiar face helped to ease his transition to college. Looking forward, Hudson hopes to continue playing lacrosse at a four-year university once he graduates from Delaware Tech.
