Meet the March Athlete Spotlight Students

March 29, 2023

Delaware Tech student-athletes must excel on and off the field as representatives of the College. Throughout the season on the Delaware Tech Athletics Instagram account, one student-athlete is regularly honored for their overall athletic performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to education.

Here are Athlete Spotlight students this month:

Hunter Rauch
Hunter Rauch is a second-year member of the baseball team, an elementary education student, and a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. Rauch has been the team's starting short stop for the past two seasons. He has already made some key plays in the field and at the plate this season, and through 26 games is batting .369 with a .500 slugging percentage, 31 hits, 13 RBI, and nine doubles. "Hunter has become a quiet leader for our team," Head Coach Stu Madden said. "He provides a combination of being the most physically talented player, but also having a quiet confidence with an ability to never let his emotions get too high or low. He has been a big part of our success and will continue to be a part of our success this year. I look forward to what the future holds for Hunter as a student-athlete beyond his time with us here at Delaware Tech."

Macey Myers
Macey Myers is a second-year member of the softball team, a legal studies major, and a graduate of Milford High School. She is a two-time all-region player, a 2022 NJCAA All-Academic player, and has the most career hits (126 and counting) and RBI (133 and counting) in the softball program's history. She is off to a tremendous start for the 2023 season, batting .547 with 29 hits, 30 RBI, and three home runs through 16 games. "Macey hits the ball really well and is such a hard worker when it comes to perfecting her hitting," Head Coach Guy Wilkins said. "She has been and continues to be very consistent. She has a lot of power, drives in a lot of runs, and is just one of a kind."

Chase Boyle
Chase Boyle is a second-year member of the baseball team, a turf and ornamental horticulture major, and a graduate of Sussex Central High School. Boyle played mostly second base in his first season and has played third base and in the outfield this season. He also regularly pitches and is aggressive on the base paths, recording 19 stolen bases in 26 games so far this season. "Chase brings a positive attitude and energy to the team every day," Head Coach Stu Madden said. "Being an elite athlete has allowed us to play him at multiple positions around the field. He has been a tremendous teammate and willing to do whatever is asked of him. He has worked extremely hard in the classroom to improve his academics and has shown a great work ethic across multiple settings."

Logan Walls
Logan Walls is a second-year member of the Delaware Tech softball team, a nursing major, and a graduate of Delmar High School. On March 26, Walls became just the second Delaware Tech softball player in the past 12 years to break 100 career hits. During her career, Walls has been a solid infielder and occasional pitcher. Through the team's first 16 games of the season, Walls has 24 hits, five triples, 14 RBI and is batting .480 from the leadoff spot. "Logan's drive and her work ethic is second to none," Head Coach Guy Wilkins said. "She's just a great athlete who gets better every game. She's a great student in the classroom, and on the field she's a true competitor who wants the ball hit to her and wants to be in the situation where she's the one who needs to get on base."
