Delaware Tech’s Annual Hometown Heroes 5k Raises Funds for Student Scholarships

More than 300 runners and walkers joined 麻豆视频 employees, students, and volunteers on Sept. 18 for the annual Hometown Heroes 5k Run/1 Mile Walk hosted by the College’s Stanton and Wilmington campuses. This year’s race raised nearly $20,000 for student scholarships.

For the third year in a row, event activities took place in front of the 100-year-old Rockford Tower at Rockford Park in Wilmington. The event began with a ceremony to celebrate sophomores who on the men’s and women’s cross-country teams. Volunteers included Delaware Tech employees, students from the College’s education program, and student-athletes from the men’s basketball team. In addition to the run/walk, the event also included post-race refreshments, music, children’s activities, and raffle prizes.

The top runners included first-place male, Kyle Hoffman, with a time of 18:07, and first-place female, Leah-Kate Atkinson, with a time of 19:23.
