April 10, 2026

The Delaware Tech women’s basketball team began the 2025-2026 season focused on growth, competition, and teamwork. Their efforts in November paid off, resulting in several key victories as they entered the winter months. Between Dec. 11 and their final game on Feb. 19, the team secured 11 impressive wins over their opponents.

The team’s first victory was on Dec. 11 against Middlesex Community College, with Kai Burnette leading the way by scoring 29 points and going 10 for 12 from the free-throw line, helping secure an 83-71 win. In their next game on Dec. 16, the women defeated Raritan Valley Community College, as Burnette extended her offensive streak with 31 points in a 71-56 victory.

After a tough loss to close out December, the team regained momentum in the new year. On Jan. 6, Talaney Pierce delivered a standout performance against Howard Community College, recording 18 points and 16 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Her efforts earned her the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Week title. Despite their determination, the women’s team narrowly lost, 67-72.

The team's next victory came on Jan. 10, when they dominated County College of Morris with a 94-46 win. Ciara Whittle led the offense, tallying 26 points and 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Pierce also delivered a strong performance, contributing 14 points and 17 rebounds to earn her seventh double-double.

Pierce achieved her eighth double-double during a 68-62 win against Cecil College on Jan. 14, scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Burnette added 23 points, with Aaliyah Smith close behind, contributing 13 points.

Their winning streak was temporarily halted on Jan. 17 with a tough 64-79 loss to Essex County College, but they bounced back on Jan. 22 when they defeated Baltimore City Community College, 84-55. Burnette once again led the team in scoring, with 29 points and seven steals. Sabrina Washington recorded her first double-double of the season by scoring 18 points and securing 13 rebounds, and Pierce continued her strong play with 14 points and 11 rebounds, marking her ninth double-double.

The next three games proved to be challenging, as the women’s team battled through three closely contested matchups but ultimately suffered defeats. In the Feb. 3 game against Mercer County Community College, Maddie August recorded a season-high 15 rebounds. Despite her standout effort, the team fell short, with a final score of 43-100.

Facing tough opponents only strengthened the team, allowing them to enter the final month of the  season with renewed confidence. They opened February with an impressive 65-56 win over Salem Community College on Feb. 5. Burnette led the way with 30 points, while Pierce notched her tenth double-double, tallying 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Pierce moved on to score another double-double against Harcum College on Feb. 12, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Despite her effort, the team suffered a crushing 38-94 defeat. She then earned her 12th double-double against Lackawanna College on Feb. 14. In that same game, Laila Jacobs made a massive offensive push, scoring 25 points. Burnette was right there with her, scoring 28 points, leading to a final score of 84-40.

During the 68-63 win over Raritan Valley Community College during the Feb. 17 Sophomore Night game, Pierce earned her 13th double-double of the season with a score of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Burnette also earned her second double-double by putting up 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Jacobs kept up the strong offensive play by contributing an additional 14 points.

The team gave everything they had during the final game on Feb. 19 against Anne Arundel Community College. Pierce also had a huge offensive game, ending with a final score of 21 points and 24 rebounds, marking her 14th double-double. In the end, the team secured their final victory of the season with a score of 70-45.
