Three Student-Athletes Earn Player of the Week Honors

For the second straight week, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ student-athletes have been selected for Player of the Week honors from the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC). The awards, based upon games played from March 16-22, were announced March 23.
Abby Marsh (Cape Henlopen High School) was named Softball Pitcher of the Week, Kalli Chelton (Woodbridge High School) was selected Softball Hitter of the Week, and Zak Sophy (Middletown High School) was chosen Baseball Hitter of the Week.
Marsh, a freshman who also won last week’s EPAC Pitcher of the Week honor, followed up with two more stellar showings inside the circle, earning wins over Raritan Valley and Salem. She pitched a total of eight innings, striking out 17 while only allowing two hits and issuing no walks.
Playing Raritan Valley, Marsh pitched three perfect innings, including an immaculate inning that consisted of three strikeouts on nine total pitches. She also struck out seven batters as Delaware Tech went on to win 25-1. Against Salem, Marsh pitched all five innings, allowing only two hits while striking out 10, as the team won 17-0.
In four games against those same opponents, Chelton, also a freshman, had nine hits in 12 at bats (.750 batting average). Five of those hits went for extra bases, as she recorded four doubles and one home run. Chelton also notched nine RBI and scored 10 runs.
Sophy, a sophomore outfielder, played a total of four games against County College of Morris and Anne Arundel Community College and compiled an impressive offensive performance, including hitting three home runs in one game. Overall, he went 8 for 16 at the plate (.500 batting average), driving in 12 runs and scoring eight times. Sophy wound up with four total home runs, one triple, and one double while drawing three walks.
