Terry Campus Celebrates 14th Annual Chocolate 5k on Valentine’s Day
February 18, 2026
The 14th annual Chocolate 5k Run/Walk fell on Valentine's Day this year and drew nearly 400 participants who stepped up to support the Terry Campus Emergency Fund for Students.
Terry Campus Director Paul Morris and Diane Glenn, a member of the College's Board of Trustees, kicked off the event, followed by paramedic student Isabella Hughes, who sang the National Anthem. Before the walkers and runners started the 5k, kids 10 and under participated in a free Kiddie K fun run.
After the race, participants and guests warmed up inside the Del-One Conference Center to enjoy a post-race awards ceremony and tasty treats, including homemade hot chocolate and marshmallows, freshly prepared chocolate ganache served with fruit and snacks for dipping, and a variety of home-baked sweets. The desserts were prepared by students and instructors from the Terry Campus culinary arts program.
Participants also received an event T-shirt designed by visual communications student Pietra Berwanger Kroefr.
"It's really nice to be like, 'Oh I did that!' … it's something that I'll definitely remember," said Kroefr, who plans to graduate in May and pursue her bachelor's degree.
Primary sponsors for the Chocolate 5k were the Brainard family, the Delaware Army National Guard, Del-One Federal Credit Union, Dover Federal Credit Union, and WBOC.
Next year's Chocolate 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, 2027, and will once again be a sweet event for everyone.
