Ron & Beth Baron Named Honorary Chairs of Terry Campus Gourmet Gala

September 29, 2023

Ron and Beth Baron have been named honorary chairs of the Delaware Tech Terry Campus Gourmet Gala taking place Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 6-10 p.m. in the on-campus Del-One Conference Center. Ron is president & CEO of Del-One Federal Credit Union and Beth has been a social worker for nearly three decades.

The Gourmet Gala, started 20 years ago, is the premier fundraising event for student success on the College’s Terry Campus in Dover. Proceeds enhance the ability of the campus to offer educational opportunities and activities, scholarships, and additional financial support to students.

As parents who understand the value of everyone having access to education beyond high school, the Barons endorse the great work being done by Delaware Tech.

“Del-One has been a long-time supporter of Delaware Tech,” said Ron. “Aside from the financial support of scholarship programs for all campuses, the Credit Union seeks Delaware Tech students as interns who wish to explore credit union professions, and we are providing Spanish language financial literacy programs for Delaware Tech students. I strongly believe that individuals who are not financially literate will be victims of schemes that will leave them financially strapped for life.”

Beth has seen the importance and significance that access to higher education offered for many of the individuals who were part of her social work caseloads.

The Barons moved to Delaware in 2018 as Ron accepted the position of chief financial officer for Del-One. He was named president & CEO in August 2019.

Expanding the Credit Union’s community outreach to underserved, unbanked, and Hispanic communities, Ron was instrumental in establishing the Banking Desert Initiative in 2019 to address the banking desert along the Route 9 corridor in New Castle County. This effort continues to expand with a number of partnerships, among them The Springboard Collaborative’s Homeless Village Community, Impact Life, La Esperanza in Sussex County, and New Castle County’s Hope Center.

In November 2022, Beth was instrumental in establishing the JoyFully Connected Foundation, where she serves as president. The Foundation’s focus is on individuals whose needs have not been met either socially or physically, causing them to become isolated. Among the communities the Foundation has focused on is The Springboard Collaborative’s Homeless Village in Georgetown. Weekly letters to all residents, birthday cards, and gifts are part of the foundation’s outreach.

The gala chaired by the Barons has a theme of "An Evening in the Amalfi Coast," a stretch of coastline in southern Italy. Guests will enjoy an array of culinary delights such as signature cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, wine of the region paired to the plated main course, and desserts, all inspired by the ambience of Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

In addition, live entertainment will be provided throughout the evening by The Creative Jazz Ensemble and Nancy Curry, and guests will have the opportunity to participate in a live auction.

are $125 each and are available online.
