Owens Campus Starry, Starry Night Gala Supports Student Success

April 30, 2025

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown held its annual Starry, Starry Night Gala on April 26 to raise funds to support student scholarships and purchase state-of-the-art equipment for classrooms and labs. The scholarships funded through the gala support workforce training certificate programs and international education study abroad opportunities.

Held outside under a large tent complete with a stage and dance floor, the gala entertained approximately 220 guests with an evening of specialty cocktails, a carving station and variety of heavy hors d’oeuvres, dancing, and live music from Milan 77. Guests also heard directly from student scholarship recipient Alex Strang, who shared his personal and educational journey.

Premier gala sponsors were Carl M. Freeman Foundation, Massey’s Landing Park, Inc. & Ida Faucett, Beebe Healthcare, Schell Brothers, and TidalHealth. Overall, the gala raised approximately $110,000 to contribute toward student success on the Owens Campus.

“We greatly appreciate our sponsors, donors, and friends,” said Delaware Tech Vice President and Owens Campus Director Dr. Bobbi Barends. “It is their generosity and support that helps us deliver on our mission of keeping students at the center of everything we do.”

The evening was made possible due to the diligent work of the gala planning committee and the numerous volunteers who gave generously of their time.

“Special thanks to our many volunteers, including our students and alumni, as well as our talented culinary partners, who worked hard to make this event a success,” said College President Mark Brainard. “It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our supportive College community.”

Next year’s Starry, Starry Night Gala will be held April 25, 2026.
