Meet the October Athlete Spotlight Students

October 27, 2022

Delaware Tech student-athletes must excel on and off the field as representatives of the College. Each week on the Delaware Tech Athletics Instagram account, one student-athlete is honored for their overall athletic performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to education.

Here are the students that were featured on Athlete Spotlight this month:

Kaitlyn Cavallucci
Kaitlyn Cavallucci is a second-year member of the women's cross country team, a production agriculture major, and a graduate of Sussex Tech High School. Cavallucci has consistently been Delaware Tech's fastest female runner since her first race in the 2021 season, and posted an impressive finish at the Salisbury University Don Cathcart Invitational, finishing a 6k distance in 25:11. She also finished second overall at the 2022 Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championships. "Kaitlyn continues to show dedication to her training," Head Coach Mike O'Brian said. "More importantly, she has shown dedication to her team by assuming the role of a true leader on and off the course. She is eyes repeats of last year's conference individual champion and a berth in the national championship race through all-region honors."

Isadora Reichner
Isadora Reichner is a second-year member of the women's volleyball team, a general studies major, and a graduate of Delaware Military Academy. Reichner is a versatile player on the court for Delaware Tech, as shown with her 115 kills and 153 digs in 17 games this season, despite playing through a lower leg injury. Reichner said she is playing smarter this season compared to last season, and likes the team's chances in this year's region tournament. "I think we are stronger and more dedicated," she said. "And we have more of a family dynamic."

Ashley Kelly
Ashley Kelly is a first-year member of the women's volleyball team, a graduate of Delaware Military Academy, and an elementary education major. Kelly has been a powerful frontcourt player for Delaware Tech this season, where she is second on the team in kills (115) and total blocks (31). She is also one of the team's key servers with 26 aces. "My greatest strength is lifting the team's spirit," she said. "I can always seem to get a smile out of each of my teammates and it helps on the court as well."

Morgan Donahue
Morgan Donahue is a second-year member of the women's volleyball team, a graduate of Smyrna High School, and an elementary education major. Donahue is one of the team's best all-around players, as evident by her 2022 regular season stats. She led the team in kills (125) and aces (45), and was second on the team in digs (244). "Morgan is one of our team captains and a go-getter," Head Coach Leigh DeSantis said. "She keeps swinging and quickly racked up the kills. Her serve percentage is one of the best on the team, and her ball placement is second to none. She quickly finds the seams and exploits them."
