Jennifer Baker Receives PTK Distinguished College Administrator Award

April 29, 2024

Jennifer Baker, dean of student affairs at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Stanton Campus, was among 23 individuals nationwide to be awarded the Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished College Administrator award for 2024.

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders. They were recognized as the official honor society for two-year colleges in 1929 by the American Association of Community Colleges.

The award recognizes college administrators for their outstanding support of student success.

“These college administrators are beloved on campus—they know students by name and by circumstance,” said Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. “This award is special because it comes directly from the students, and it is evidence of the gratitude they feel for the support for them and students like them.”

Delaware Tech’s Alpha Epsilon Zeta chapter officer team nominated Baker for her continued support of PTK activities, and for inspiring students to lead and achieve every day.

“Mrs. Baker embodies the mission of Delaware Tech to place the student at the center of everything,” the officers wrote in their nomination. “Student ideas matter to her.  She listens to our thoughts and helps us to develop our plans in ways that make our projects more successful.  She is fearless as a leader and provides us motivation to achieve our goals.  She works alongside students in ways that encourage their independence and growth as PTK members and is well respected for her student-first approach throughout the college.”
