Hometown Heroes 5k Run / 1 Mile Walk Raises Funds for Student Scholarship

On Thursday, September 22, Delaware Tech's Stanton and Wilmington campuses hosted the Hometown Heroes 5k Run / 1 Mile Walk at Rockford Park in Wilmington to raise funds for student scholarships.

More than 100 participants joined volunteers comprised of Delaware Tech employees, students, and community for a beautiful evening of running, refreshments, and post-race festivities. First place male was Joseph Volk, a Delaware Tech cross country student athlete with a time of 18:17.9. First place female was Kaitlyn Cavallucci, also a Delaware Tech cross country student athlete with a time of 21:49.4.

Generous sponsors who contributed to the event included:

Overall, the race raised more than $11,000 to assist with student scholarships.

"Thank you to the many sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made this event a success," said Dr. Lora Johnson, vice president and campus director at the Wilmington Campus. "We are excited to grow this event in the future to help even more students succeed."
