High School Students Visit Dover Campus for Industry Day Event

March 27, 2023

The Delaware Tech Terry Campus held an “Industry Day” event Friday, March 17, 2023 to provide an opportunity for nearly 50 area high school students to learn about the engineering technology and energy management programs offered on the College’s Dover campus.

Students from Caesar Rodney High School and Dover High School’s Advanced Manufacturing Program met with Delaware Tech faculty, toured classrooms and labs, and learned about career and continuing education opportunities in STEM fields.

The campus visitors also had the opportunity to meet members of industry and speak with a representative from Southern Illinois University Carbondale to learn about Connected Degree options that allow Delaware Tech associate degree graduates to transfer to a baccalaureate program as a junior.

The Industry Day event was created as an opportunity to showcase the College’s programs of study and to show how graduates of these programs can help address the needs of the local workforce.

“Kent County is experiencing a growing demand for technicians in energy and engineering technology fields,” said Jeff Hall, engineering department chair. “In some fields, graduates can expect to start their careers with a salary above $60,000 a year."
