Four of Â鶹ÊÓƵ's men's lacrosse players recently earned National Junior College Athletic Association Region 19 All-Region honors for the 2023 season.
Freshman midfielder Blake Gipko was named 2023 NJCAA Region 19 Defensive Player of the Year and 2023 NJCAA Region 19 Co-Player of the Year.
Sophomore midfielder and faceoff player Bryce Wells was named Region 19 All-Region Faceoff, starting sophomore goalie Caleb Secrist was named Region 19 All-Region Goalie, and sophomore midfielder Matt Hague was named Region 19 All-Region Midfield.
Gipko led the team with 14 goals and 2 assists for 16 points. He had a 40 percent shot percentage and a 57.1 percentage of shots on goal.
"What I enjoy most about playing lacrosse is the highly competitive and fast-paced nature of the sport," Gipko said. "I also really enjoy the physicality of the game. Lacrosse allows for each player to express their own creativity, no matter the position, as there are an endless variety of different shots, dodges, checks, and passes that can be performed."
Wells finished the season with a 77-114 record on faceoffs, while picking up 38 ground balls and scoring 5 goals with 5 assists.
"Faceoff for the team and it's one of the most important positions in the game besides goalie," Wells said. "I get to be able to give my team possessions and fast breaks that can lead into scoring opportunities."
Secrist started all 6 of Delaware Tech's games and logged a 51 percent save percentage in over 230 minutes in goal.
Hague contributed 9 goals and 2 assists for 11 points. He had a 31 percent shot percentage and a 58.6 percentage of shots on goal.
