Delaware Tech Unveils Student Success Center at the Wilmington Campus

On March 21, Delaware Tech unveiled a newly constructed Student Success Center at its George Campus in Wilmington. Joined by college leaders, members of the Board of Trustees, and members of the Delaware General Assembly, Gov. John Carney and former Sen. Harris B. McDowell III cut the ribbon to officially open the new space.

The Student Success Center contains all of the services a student will need to enroll, register, and succeed at Delaware Tech, including Financial Aid, the Business Office, Student Affairs, Career Services, Veterans Services, and Advising. The Learning Commons, café and bookstore are located on the ground floor below.

The $25 million project was made possible by Senate Substitute 2 for Senate Bill 50, which was passed to address infrastructure needs at the College. The bill was championed by then-Senator McDowell, and the newly renovated space will be called the McDowell Student Success Center.

"Delaware Tech has never had someone fight as long or as hard as Harris McDowell," said College President Mark T. Brainard. "This building is a prime example of why the senate bill was so critical to the College."

"Today's ceremony highlights and is a tangible reminder of our mission – students are at the center of everything we do," said Dr. Lora Johnson, vice president and campus director.
