April 11, 2022

Delaware Tech students Martin Wood and Capri Perry have received scholarship awards from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

General Studies student Martin Wood from the Georgetown campus received distinction as a New Century Transfer Scholar. As 2022 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar, Martin will receive a $2,250 scholarship to use at his school of choice.

Wood’s selection was based on the score earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition, for which more than 2,000 applications were received. Wood was the top scoring student from Delaware. Annually, this program awards 104 awards across all US states and territories. As a New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar, Martin will be recognized at the Annual Phi Theta Kappa President’s Breakfast during the AACC Convention, Monday, May 2, 2022, in New York City, New York.

Wood’s outstanding academic achievements and leadership accomplishments have earned him this recognition. At Delaware Tech, Wood serves as President of the Student Government Association at the Georgetown campus, Vice President of Membership for Alpha Epsilon Epsilon (Phi Theta Kappa), and is actively involved in InterVarsity Club. Graduating in May, Wood is currently touring selected schools for transfer and making plans to continue his education.

The New Century Pathway Scholarship program is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation, The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, the American Association of Community Colleges, and Phi Theta Kappa.

General Studies student Capri Perry from the Wilmington campus was named a 2022 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar. Perry will receive a $1,250 scholarship, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Foundation with additional support provided by Phi Theta Kappa. Selection was based on the score earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition, for which 2,000 applications were received. Perry was the top scoring student from Delaware.

Perry has an interest in the dental hygiene field. She has been working at a Covid-19 testing site to give back to the community and help stop the spread of Covid-19. The scholarship will help her family financially and give her the support she needs to persevere.
