January 24, 2025
Three sophomore co-captains on the Â鶹ÊÓƵ men’s basketball team have been recognized by the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) for their outstanding performance during the 2024-2025 season. The players include Drew Zimmerman (#5), Toma Smith (#13), and Cameron Moore (#1), who were each awarded a Player of the Week title this season.
Zimmerman was first to be recognized after showcasing his skill during three impressive games the week of Nov. 4. Two of the games saw Delaware Tech face off against Rowan College of South Jersey-Glowcester (84-65) and Paul D. Camp Community College (80-65). Zimmerman made significant contributions toward wins against both teams by putting up 24 points each game. During the final game of the week against Union College (85-95), he scored a remarkable 33 points. Overall, Zimmerman scored 81 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists across all three games.
“Drew Zimmerman's ability to score while fighting through double-team pressure has helped the team maintain and gain leads within many close games,” said Kayla Fromal, program manager of campus athletics for the Stanton Campus. “Drew currently leads the region in points scored this year with a total of 443.”
Smith was awarded the title by EPAC for the week of Dec. 2, despite facing two tough losses. He averaged 12 rebounds and 15 points across three games and boasted two double-double performances. When facing off against Mercer Community College (103-109), Smith scored 18 points and 13 rebounds. A few days later, he scored 22 points and 13 rebounds against County College of Morris (73-96). By the end of the week, Smith had 6 double-double games for the season.
“Toma Smith’s rebounding contribution has kept Delaware Tech in many close games,” said Fromal. “He has acquired 10 double-doubles this season, an impressive stat for a JUCO student-athlete. Toma ranks fifth in rebounds for Region 19 and third within the NJCAA Division II.”
Moore is the most recent recipient of EPAC’s Player of the Week award. He racked up 40 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists within two games during the week of Jan. 6. He scored 20 points on Jan. 9 as Delaware Tech defeated Community College of Philadelphia (79-74). Then, in a tight loss to Prince George’s Community College on Jan. 11, Moore secured his second double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
“Cameron Moore's court awareness has made him a dual threat on the offensive and defensive side of the game,” said Fromal. “His ability to read the floor and communicate with his fellow teammates has earned him EPAC POTW recognition.”
The Delaware Tech Men’s basketball team will continue to compete going into February. Their final home game of the season will be at the Stanton Campus on February 22, 2025, at 2 p.m.
