Delaware Tech Hosts 10th Social Media Conference
March 28, 2024
Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Social Media Conference returned for its 10th year at the Owens Campus in Georgetown on March 21, offering the opportunity to participate in person or virtually.
About 260 attendees participated in the event, which included multiple breakout sessions throughout the day, and featured keynote speaker Andrew Davis, an internationally acclaimed speaker and best-selling author. Davis, who has produced for NBC’s Today Show, worked for The Muppets, and built and sold a digital marketing agency, returned to the conference for a second time since he was so popular as the conference’s keynote speaker in 2023.
The day began with a networking activity among the attendees to meet their fellow social media enthusiasts with various breakout sessions that followed. The keynote speaker kicked off the afternoon portion of the conference.
During his keynote remarks, Davis introduced the concept of “Digital Doppelganger(s),” which focused on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help marketers become more successful in their roles.
“When you train AI to think like you, behave like you, create like you, you are more valuable than ever before,” Davis said. “AI is your cognitive collaborator. If you want to get more out of AI to elevate your performance, you need to put more of yourself into it.”
Davis expanded upon his keynote address in his own breakout session where he demonstrated an interactive exercise with step-by-step instruction for the members in the audience to follow along while building their own personal digital doppelganger.
Other social media experts from around the region presented their own tips and tricks for boosting the reach of businesses and other organizations on social media with topics designed for beginners through advanced social media users. Conference attendees include small business owners, educators, industry professionals, and those who work for non-profit organizations.
"This milestone tenth year of the Social Media Conference signifies a decade of fostering connections and driving growth through social media," said Chris Moody, director of workforce development at Delaware Tech. "A social media presence is paramount for businesses and organizations of all sizes. Our conference shares the latest tools, strategies, and industry insights to maximize the social media impact.”
This year’s event sponsors were Carl M. Freeman Companies, Solutions IPEM, CNT InfoTech, State Farm – Ron Krajewski Agency, Del-One Federal Credit Union, Top of Mind Marketing, Video In Progress, and Lighthouse Catering.
