Delaware Tech Honors Logan Herring during Black History Month Celebration

On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ honored Mr. Logan Herring Sr., at the College’s Black History Month Celebration. Herring is the CEO of The WRK Group, including The Warehouse, REACH Riverside, and Kingswood Community Center. He has played an integral role in connecting services to underserved communities and empowering teens and young adults in the City of Wilmington.
Since 1998, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Stanton and George Campuses have been celebrating Black History Month by honoring a member of the community for his/her outstanding personal and professional achievements. The College selects individuals who have made significant contributions to the community and have made an impact on improving the quality of life throughout the State.
During the event, tributes were presented from various local and state officials, including New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer, who proclaimed February 20, 2024 as Logan Herring Day in New Castle County in recognition of Herring’s commitment to the community.
Herring spoke of the relationships he has made throughout his life, the support he received as a young man growing up in the City of Wilmington, and his desire to empower others. “We have a collective duty to open a door, to reach back and pull someone with us, to mentor someone,” he said. “So, I challenge you all – let’s go make some history together and this time, let’s make some real change while we’re at it.”
“We are so proud to be recognizing Logan Herring as this year’s honoree,” said Dr. Lora Johnson, vice president and campus director for Delaware Tech’s Wilmington campus. “Through his passion and leadership, Logan has played a central role in connecting services to underserved communities and creating opportunities for teens and young adults to thrive. He is a true change agent.”
About Logan Herring, Sr.
Logan Herring is the CEO of , which includes The Warehouse, REACH Riverside, and Kingswood Community Center. Raised in Wilmington's West Center City neighborhood, Logan knows that other people helped guide him to success, and his goal is to now, pay it forward. Herring started his work in the Riverside neighborhood of Wilmington in 2016 as the Executive Director for Kingswood Community, which quickly led to the realization that more support and resources were needed within the community. In 2018, The WRK Group was created to accelerate the redevelopment of the Riverside community and surrounding areas of northeast Wilmington. The WRK Group leverages the unique assets and expertise of each of its organizations.
