Two new faces are on the sideline for Delaware Tech’s women’s volleyball program this season, as Erin Carney and Morgan Donahue have joined the coaching staff as assistant coaches.

“These ladies were both brought to the coaching staff for what they bring to the table,” Head Coach Leigh DeSantis said. “They are both passionate about volleyball and coaching, helping student-athletes reach their full potential, and bring joy to the game while pushing the student athletes to be their best.”

Carney previously coached fall and spring leagues, summer camps, and travel teams for the Momentum Volleyball Club. She played varsity volleyball at Smyrna High School from 2014-2018 and played travel volleyball starting at the 12-and-under age. Carney played one season of collegiate volleyball at Penn State Harrisburg in 2018. Overall, she has been involved in volleyball through playing or coaching for a little over 12 years. Carney graduated from Delaware Tech with a general studies degree in 2020 and currently attends Penn Foster College where she is majoring in interior design. Carney currently works as an administrative assistant in the athletics department at Delaware Tech’s Stanton Campus.

“I wanted to join Delaware Tech's women's volleyball program because it was a wonderful opportunity to give back to the school that has meant so much to me and my family,” Carney said. “The appreciation and fondness I have for this institution is immeasurable.

“Beyond that, I absolutely love the sport of volleyball and wanted to take my coaching knowledge to the next level.”

Donahue graduated from Delaware Tech in 2023 with a degree in elementary education and is now enrolled in the College’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program. She was a two-year starter for Delaware Tech’s women’s volleyball team, earning most valuable player honors in 2021 and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 All-Region honors in 2022, when she was an instrumental player in Delaware Tech winning the NJCAA Region 19 Women’s Volleyball Championship. Prior to coming to Delaware Tech, Donahue played four years at Smyrna High School, including two years on varsity, and played for Premier Volleyball from 2017-2021, where she also served as an assistant coach from 2021-2022 and head camp instructor in 2023.
