20th Annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser Raises Over $150,000
March 27, 2024
Wilmington, DE – The Delaware Tech Stanton and Wilmington campuses celebrated the 20th anniversary of “An Evening of Mardi Gras” on March 2, an event which entertained more than 700 guests and grossed an all-time high of more than $150,000. Net proceeds will help students in need pay for tuition, books, and other essentials while attending Delaware Tech.
Guests were treated to exceptional New Orleans-style food and drink from local restaurants, as well as Delaware Tech’s own culinary program. In addition, guests enjoyed live entertainment from area bands, a silent auction, raffles, wine pull, and other games.
Chip Rossi, president of Bank of America Delaware, and his wife, Tracy, served as honorary chairs of this year’s gala.
“The success of our Mardi Gras fundraiser requires a tremendous amount of planning, hard work, and creativity on the part of everyone involved in the event,” said Delaware Tech President Mark Brainard. “We offer a special thank you to our co-chairs Chip and Tracy Rossi, as well as our donors, sponsors, elected officials, and friends from the community who made this event a success for our students, who are the reason we hold this fundraiser each year. We could not do what we do without their generosity and support.”
Premier sponsors such as Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership (DEMEP), Buck Simpers Architect + Associates, Inc., Delmarva Power, Santora CPA Group, Steel Suppliers Erectors, Inc., and Wilmington University were vital to raising scholarship funds for students.
Over the past 20 years, the event has raised more than $2 million, which is used to help students in need pay for tuition, books, and other essentials while attending Delaware Tech.
“The funds raised from this event change lives,” said Dr. Lora Johnson, vice president and campus director of the Wilmington campus. “We are grateful for the support of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers.”
Next year’s Mardi Gras will be held March 1, 2025.
