Delaware Tech Celebrates 2025 Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremonies

March 27, 2025

Â鶹ÊÓƵ inducted 365 students into Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an international honor society for students who attend two-year colleges, during a series of PTK chapter ceremonies held in March 2025.

This year, the Georgetown campus honored 86 students who joined the Alpha Epsilon Epsilon chapter. At the Wilmington campus, 88 were inducted into the Alpha Zeta Kappa chapter during a joint ceremony with the Stanton Campus Alpha Epsilon Zeta chapter, which inducted 109 students. In Dover, 82 students joined the Alpha Beta Kappa chapter.

“PTK isn’t just about what we do, it’s about who we do it with,” said Kalani Aken, a student speaker at the Stanton and Wilmington induction ceremony. “That is what makes this community so worthy of our time, care, and dedication. The endless love and support I have received has propelled me even further toward the career I plan on pursuing in graphic design. My eyes have been opened to new possibilities, new ways of challenging my views about what I am capable of, and what we as a community can accomplish.”

Established by Missouri’s two-year college presidents in 1918, PTK serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming. In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges.

Members of PTK must be enrolled in an associate degree program and have completed 12 college-level credits. They must also have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 for induction and then maintain a 3.25 to remain a member in good standing. Both full- and part-time students are eligible.
